What is Rolfing
Rolfing is a hands on massage therapy developed by Dr Ida Rolf.
How does Rolfing work?
Dr Rolf realised that both the physical and emotional cause of human discomfort may, in part, lie in the relationship between the internal connective tissue and the earth's gravitational field.
There is a natural alignment for each of us while allows for an easier interaction between gravity and the body. Due to external influences, when this optimum alignment is lost, internal stress can result in actual discomfort.
By correcting or preventing the misalignment, stress may be eliminated or limited. Learning new ways of moving, clients will be educated out of old habitual movement patterns that were causing the misalignment.
What does Rolfing treatment involve?
The recommended treatment is 10 sessions, each two weeks apart. Each sessions last up to an hour.
The Rolfer will take medical details and then observe the client's movements. Sensitive and precise pressure is applied to specific parts of the client's body. Treatment may be carried out either seated or standing.
What can Rolfing help?
Improves postural problems, reduces pain, general health and well being.
