What is Iridology
Iridology is the examination of the iris of the eye, for diagnostic purposes.
Iridology (also known as iris analysis, iris diagnosis and ophthamic somatology) dates back to the late 17th century. The physician Phillipus Meyens first proposed that the eye's reflexes could indicate the health of other parts of the body, in his book "Chiromatica Medica". The term Iridology was first used by Ignatz von Peczley, a Hungarian physician, who had observed how the markings in the iris of an owl's eye changed after breaking its leg and during the healing process.
In the 1950s, Bernard Jensen, an Amercian chiropractor, produced a chart that mapped the iris, showing six circular zones in the eye that correspond to other parts of the body.
How does Iridology work?
By observing the iris markings and using charts showing the corresponding body areas, a health analysis of the client's body can be carried out. The iridologist will analyse the iris looking for the presence of toxins, imbalances and deficiencies.
What does Iridology treatment involve?
The first appointment is about 45-90 minutes, subsequent appointments can be from 30 minutes.
After taking medical history notes, the Iridologist will examine the iris of the eye using a special light and magnifying glass, comparing the structure of the iris with charts.
After the examination, the Iridologist will explain the findings and recommend treatment, if necessary. Some Iridologists are also trained in other alternative therapists and can treat the conditions found themselves.
What can Iridology help?
Non-invasive diagnosis of a wide range of health issues.
