What is the Alexander Technique

A gentle manipulation technique and verbal instruction method to improve and maintain conscious control of poise and movement, developed by F M Alexander (1869-1955).

How does Alexander Technique work?

Each of us functions as a whole and to work in the most effective way, we must learn how to consciously remove unnecessary, harmful and unwanted physical habits we have unconsciously be repeating over time. Part of the key to progression in learning the Alexander Technique, is to become bodily aware of our movements and poise.

What does Alexander Technique treatment involve?

The consultation will involve the therapist observing your movements and poise. They will then explain what they see and show you how to learn to become more body aware. Exercises, as in ways of moving and instructions, will be given and reviewed at the next appointment.

What can Alexander Technique help?

Physical problems: repetative strain injury, back, neck and shoulder problems, vocal and breathing disorders plus stress.
